Description of Villa
The Villa is situated 2 kms east of the very attractive village of SANTA BARBARA DE NEXE. The village has a bank and cash point, several little shops including a pharmacy, doctors, butchers, several bars, car hire shop, hardware shop and a camera shop, which develops films. It also has a supermarket and bar, seven restaurants, 4 real estate offices and a lovely old church. The village is within half an hours walk of the villa (no hills to climb) so can be easily reached if you want to visit the village for a drink at one of the local bars followed by a meal in one of the many restaurants, (a taxi can be called for from any of the restaurants to take you home again). There is also a small shop and bar within walking distance, about 400 hundred metres away which can supply you with everything you need except a newspaper, wine everyday food and lovely fresh rolls for breakfast.
Beaches are not far away, Faro beach near the airport is a huge beach, with bars and restaurants reached by a wooden single traffic bridge from the mainland. All the other beaches are reached within 15 to 20 minutes drive, VALE DO LOBO, DUNOS DOURADAS AND QUINTA DO LAGO, you will find some water sports here (paragliding jet skis and banana rides e.t.c.) as well as at QUARTEIRA VILLAMOURA AND ALBUFEIRA (well worth a visit).
A golfers Paradise - most of the Algarve's best golf courses are within 10-15 minutes drive of the villa making it an ideal place to hang up your clubs after a hard day on the fairways.
Horse riding is found in the vale do lobo area and if you fancy a game of tennis then there is a court up the road from us at Quinta das raposeiras (follow the road signs) you pay for the court at the bar at the bottom of the hill. If you like go karting then go to Almancil, a fantastic driving circuit, an outing for the whole family, well worth a visit.
Markets are held weekly in LOULE (large open-air market held on Saturdays) and everyday a smaller fish market is there too (map is in the villa). Also markets are held in Quarteira (Wednesdays), Estoi, Santa Catherina and Olhao on a rota basis. There is also a daily market at Sao Bras, which has all the fresh fish and meat as well as fruit and veg.
THE VILLA CAN ACCOMMODATE 10 PEOPLE PLUS A BABY (8 people 2 under 13 and a baby under 2 years.) It has 4 bedrooms (a king-size bed) 2 double beds and 2 single beds and a bunk in the 4th bedroom. , the bunk beds are suitable for people 13 and under and we also have a cot. French doors open out onto a covered sun terrace with wicker furniture, and a large sun terrace incorporating the swimming pool. 9 metres by 5 metres and 1.4 metres deep throughout. Heating of the pool is an optional extra. The barbeque area is well placed overlooking the swimming pool and sun terrace with south facing views down to the coast in the distance, and the rolling hills left and right of the villa. The area is very peaceful and the villa is completely secluded in over an acre of ground and being 200 hundred metres off the road. As you can see the villa is the perfect place for a relaxing and peaceful holiday with many evenings of wining and dining on our superb terrace, under a star filled sky, no light pollution here. The downstairs of the villa and pool area is wheelchair accessible.
The villa is available to rent all year round, we have special discount rates for couples during winter and those wishing to stay for 4 weeks or more in low season. The Algarve boasts the warmest climate throughout the whole of Europe.
